Skills

What I do

Since studying a Bachelors in Business Computing at Unitec Auckland, I've built up 24 years of experience, taking on a number of roles, across many of Australia’s highest-value sectors including large-scale mining, healthcare and print publishing. I am a proud nerd, always looking for the next challenge. For example, I have mastered Azure Cloud, and recently gained additional Microsoft Certification in Data Management and Analytics, BI Reporting and SQL Business Intelligence Development.

Database Development & Administration

I’ve developed and managed Relational Databases, Data Marts, and Data Warehouses using Microsoft’s full suite of software, either through full SDLC or as integration/migration projects.

Project management, DEVOPS, Systems Development

I've managed several teams and large projects implementing DevOps practices. My Functional and Technical Specifications resulted in successful, timely project completions and happy clients.

Data Management

A surprising amount of businesses have messy data. I specialise in data clean-up, integration, enhancement and migration as well as complex data extractions and transformations. If your people can mess up your data, I can clean it up.

BI ANALYSIS + REPORTING

With a strong understanding of how to analyse and interpret data, I deliver forecasts, estimates, dashboards and other summaries, supporting business in big-picture decision making.

In 2022, I gained full Microsoft Certification for both Azure Fundamentals and Azure Data Fundamentals.

In 2018, I gained full Microsoft Certification for Data Management and Analytics, BI Reporting, Business Intelligence Development in SQL 2016.

Working experience

Former clients and employers

Prior to my work for the WA Police Force, Department of Communities and the WA Department of Health, I worked for much of the last decade on KJV and Chevron's Gorgon Project, through HATCH, across multiple roles and projects. Prior to that I worked on other HATCH projects like Iron Ore and Ravensthorpe Nickel.

At HATCH, I was also involved in In-house system development, off-the-shelf software evaluations as well as various small systems development, maintenance and reporting to all levels of management.

Prior to that I worked at Salmat as a Programmer, where I also worked for a number of large clients, as well as numerous small to medium businesses.

On the side, I've also completed solo projects for smaller businesses, the latest one being for autism care provider ISADD.
